I watched a lot of Children's Television Workshops' Electric Company episodes in the 70's...my Mom even got a subscription to Electric Company Magazine for me, which I loved.
I am still trying to find some footage of the nameless character, (a bald, overcoat-clad fellow) that they featured from time-to-time. He wandered the streets of NYC with a can of paint and a brush, and would paint perfectly proportioned letter and number forms on any surface imaginable; sidewalks, benches, fruitstands, etc.
I suppose that the 'found' type segment above will have tide me over...
