Follow Your Bliss
I first saw Bill Moyers' series of Joseph Campbell/The Power of Myth interviews in a psychology class at art school. It was amazingly inspirational at that time in my life, and as I wage a creative war with a long-term project I am developing, I am revisiting the series to discover that inspiration again.

POLAROID'S BIZARRE TWIST
In a bit of contemporary media sensationalism, Lady Gaga has been recently named the 'Creative Director' of Polaroid. Here's the latest update on the drama of Polaroid's uncertain future, via NPR.

Found Type / Electric Company
I watched a lot of Children's Television Workshops' Electric Company episodes in the 70's...my Mom even got a subscription to Electric Company Magazine for me, which I loved.
I am still trying to find some footage of the nameless character, (a bald, overcoat-clad fellow) that they featured from time-to-time. He wandered the streets of NYC with a can of paint and a brush, and would paint perfectly proportioned letter and number forms on any surface imaginable; sidewalks, benches, fruitstands, etc.
I suppose that the 'found' type segment above will have tide me over...

House Industries x Eames
My friends from House Industries are in LA this week, preparing for the debut of their project with the Eames House and Eames Foundation. The event will include live, on-site screenprinting via David Dodde and Fresh Pressed. The exhibit opens this Thursday night, March 11, and is free to the public.

American Mistfits
American Misfits season 3 teaser from 2HeadedHorse on Vimeo.
Ted and Laban are two really creative guys that do creative stuff...I am loving this concept and trailer for Season 3 of their show, American Misfits, on Fuel TV. They are also responsible for creating and producing one of the most original shows out there, in the form of Built to Shred. Check out one of my favorite episodes, featuring Paul Schmitt and green technology, below.

Mike Vallely/By The Sword
Mike Vallely / By The Sword live at 2HH from 2HeadedHorse on Vimeo.
The boys at 2 Headed Horse just posted their footage from the Mike Vallely/By The Sword show that went down in Echo Park a few weeks ago...it looks great. Mike and his band did a really fun Black Flag Tribute set that included Duane Peters on a few tunes.
Thanks for the shout out, guys! Now everyone go buy a print!

Batman
I recently completed some design work with RRock Enterprises and Greg 'Batman' Davis for his new website. Batman is one of the remaining founding member of the Crips and now spends as much time as possible doing lectures, speaking to at risk youth on the dangers of gangs, violence and crime. Needless to say, he has some pretty interesting stories...
Doing the logo for Batman was an interesting challenge; he wanted some sort of bat (cape, wings, etc) motif, a cane and/or a hat, and a teardrop. I tried to persuade him that I was going for some sort of SuperFly (Ed Benguiat)-inspired type. After a few rounds of pencil sketches, I think he was starting to dig it, so I cleaned it up and there it is...regardless, working with him was a memorable experience.
Note the abundant use of Cooper Black within the site and UPSO's stylized illustrations of Batman's actual gang signs...
